Switching the style of this table?
I have a restored turn of the century home that has 10ft ceilings and crystal lights, sconses etc.
My sister in law is giving us her dining set that is very country looking with light oak and windsor looking chairs.

So, My question is: Is there any way to make this look more formal/traditional? Maybe a dark stain and diff. chairs? Or is there a way to make the styles blend? Ideas please.
I had the same problem. What I did was paint the wood black and then I got a deep burgundy damask table cloth (or whatever color would match your decor) and I put a white Battenburg lace tablecloth over the burgundy so the color would show through the openings.
I then got a large burgundy cut glass bowl and used it as a centerpiece filled with pearlized blown glass balls and clear glass balls. The effect was so pretty that no one even noticed that the furniture was not strictly period. Any striking period tablecloth and centerpiece combination will draw the eye away from the furniture design quite effectively if the furniture is painted black.
