How do I rewire a 1960`s braided cord light pendant and rose?
I have 2 reds joined in middle, two blacks running to one side of pendant wire and one single black running to other side of wire. The rose is operated by way of wall switch and pull cord switch ( 2 way)
Its likely the 2 reds are live, the 2 blacks are neutral, and the single black is a switched live
So, for a new light you are likely you have a brown and blue wire.
The two reds stay together
The single black goes to the brown in your new light
The blacks go to the blue in your new light.
Howeever, if the cable is braided it points to the rest of the house cable being really old. You really need to consider a re-wire some time soon.
